Privacy and participant information

This is a private staging site, and regional enrollment is not open. This policy describes the prepared service and retained historical records; regional contacts and retention responsibilities must be established before launch.

What the service collects

Current enrollment asks for first name and last initial, phone number, ZIP code, gender for pairing, language/contact preferences, SMS consent and confirmation of age 18 or older. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Current forms do not request email or street addresses. These are local service safeguards, not conditions for A.A. membership.

The service also retains requests, matching status, messages, problem reports, consent and verification records, voicemail recordings/transcripts where used, and limited security and delivery records. Phone numbers, ZIP codes and combinations of these details can identify people; the service does not promise complete anonymity.

Older records may contain full names, email, street/pickup addresses, service areas, availability and free-text notes collected by earlier versions. Changing another profile preference does not automatically shorten an existing name or erase old fields. A deliberate name edit uses first name and last initial. A reviewed retention decision is still needed for historical data.

Please keep notes and messages limited to what is needed for connection. Avoid full names, street addresses, treatment or medical details, and information about other people.

How matching and disclosure work

A verified volunteer with an active exclusive offer can see a display name using first name and last initial, ZIP, contact/language preferences and request notes to decide whether to accept. Claimed requests use the same limited display. Stored full-name and street/pickup-address fields are omitted from these listings; free-text notes may still contain details previously supplied. A newcomer phone number is available only after the volunteer accepts the match. Notes are shared with eligible volunteers; keep them limited to connection needs.

After a match, the volunteer receives the newcomer's name and phone number to make direct contact. Newcomer messages through this service are routed without displaying the volunteer's personal number. Participants may choose to share more information directly. The service does not arrange pickups; participants coordinate any meeting details themselves.

Authorized service administrators can access records needed for support, matching, abuse handling and administration. We do not sell participant information. Hosting providers process service records, and Twilio processes phone verification, SMS and voicemail delivery. Information may be disclosed when required by law or needed to address an immediate safety or abuse concern. This staging interface does not offer AI chat.

Consent, retention and requests

SMS consent is recorded separately from entering a phone number. Reply STOP to opt out of service messages; message frequency varies and carrier rates may apply. Verification and contact options must follow the consent and delivery rules of the service.

There is not yet an automatic retention schedule for every account, request, message, voicemail, operational record or backup. Deleting an account does not guarantee immediate removal of every historical or provider record. Existing participants should ask their established service administrator about access or deletion. Regional privacy contacts and a reviewed schedule must be set before enrollment opens.
